Under the hood of SecureGSM™

It is important for customers to realize the situation regarding 3G networks and availability of the CSD service while connected to a 3G service, e.g. UMTS.

While SecureGSM applications are listed as being compatible with these new devices, the device must be connected to the GSM network for CSD functionality to be available.

Most carriers to date have chosen not to enable CSD functionality while connected to 3G services.

Therefore, customers who purchase 3G enabled devices will not be able to make or receive SecureGSM calls while their device is in 3G mode.

To use SecureGSM applications, the device will have to be connected to 2G or 2.5G services, i.e. the GSM network.

To address this issue, please set your network BAND selector manually to “GSM” by using the following procedure:

For Windows Mobile Communicators (Pocket PC):

1. Select “Start” -> Settings.
2. Under the “Personal” tab select “Phone”.
3. Select the “Band” tab.
4. Under “Select your network type.”  Choose “GSM”.
5. Choose “ok” to exit the settings page.

If you do not see the “Band” tab, please download this CAB file and execute on your device. After executing this CAB file, please follow the instructions 1 to 5 above.

The above CAB file contains a registry change for your device. No special application is installed when you execute the above CAB file.

Note: the default settings on these devices will be “Automatic”.

For Windows Mobile Smartphone:

1. Select “Start” -> Settings.
2. Select “Phone”.
3. Select “Band Select”.
4. Under “Network type.”  Choose “GSM”.
5. Choose “ok” to exit the settings page.

Note: the default settings on these devices will be “Automatic”.
