BlackBerry security model flawed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An interesting revelation has come out in this article by Bappa Majumdar and Devidutta Tripathy (Reuters) titled “India testing ways to access BlackBerry emails”. One of the key points mentioned is the ability to intercept encrypted emails on the server.
“Indian telecom officials said they had been told by RIM the only way an email could be intercepted is when it temporarily stores itself in an Enterprise server in a decrypted form while traveling between two BlackBerry devices” the article says.
SecureGSM do not offer email encryption because this is only one of many ways to intercept and decrypt “offline” messaging such as emails. A simple predicate is the fact that unless two parties directly negotiate a secure channel at the time of transmission, then the very nature of having to store and/or exchange the secret passphrase required to decrypt the message, makes it prone to interception.
Of course, encrypted communications should never be decrypted at the server as this gives an easy point of attack.
Knowing this information, it is easy to see why the security model implemented in SecureGSM’s In-Confidence is true and impenetrable encryption. There is never any decryption at the server, and all information is kept secret by meticulous attention to accepted cryptographic conventions.
- No decryption at the server, ever.
- Every secure session is unique (in terms of cryptography).
- No way in or out, no master keys, no backdoors.
- Complies with legal interception laws, but does not allow for decryption of contents.
- Trustworthy, time proven platform.
- In use by many enterprise and governmental organisations.
- Multi-party voice conference.
- Real time Messaging.
- True military grade encryption.

Secure encrypted conferencing
with In-Confidence
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today we want to show you just how easy it is to set up encrypted conference calling between participants using In-Confidence.
Traditionally, if you wanted to set up a conference call you would either need to subscribe to some sort of conference service, or have a conferencing system set up within your organization. You may already have this with your existing VoIP infrastructure.
Of course, the real problem with this is not so much the hassle, but the lack of security.
With the traditional conferencing system, VoIP or otherwise, an attacker can easily and silently eavesdrop on your conversation, taking vital confidential information away with them.
When you use In-Confidence, you have a dual benefit; take out the hassle, and encrypt the call to impenetrable military grade standards.
Here is how we do it.
Any In-Confidence client that makes a call to the third person automatically becomes a conference server. To set up a conference, all you need to do is call the next person you want to join in.
Just choose the person from your contact list, or dial their In-Confidence Number (ICN) directly and press the Call button.
Do this again for each person you want to be part of the conference.
In-Confidence automatically sets up the encryption and verification only ever happens once for each participant.
Information about each conference participant is displayed conveniently in the Call Tab during your conference.
That’s all there is to it. Clear echo-free conferencing with military grade encryption.
As you can see, there is no excuse to talk business without the protection that In-Confidence offers, because when you discuss sensitive information, you should never be concerned about who else is listening
In-Confidence is available now and is affordable for any organization, large or small. Try it today, and you will see how good it really is.

Michael Evans, Giles Whittell, The Times, March 08, 2010. URGENT warnings have been circulated throughout Nato and the European Union for secret intelligence material to be protected following cyber attacks originating in China.
The attacks have also hit government and military institutions in the US, where analysts said that the West had no effective response and that EU systems were especially vulnerable because most cyber security efforts were left to member states.
Nato diplomatic sources told The Times: “Everyone has been made aware that the Chinese have become very active with cyber-attacks and we’re now getting regular warnings from the office for internal security.” The sources said that the number of attacks had increased significantly over the past 12 months, with China among the most active players.
In the US, an official report released on Friday said the number of attacks on Congress and other government agencies had risen exponentially in the past year to an estimated 1.6 billion every month. [more...]
