Depending on your requirements and the level of security required by you, below are some recommendations for ensuring a maximum security environment. 1. Bluetooth In general, Bluetooth is known to be insecure. For the highest possible security, Bluetooth functionality should be switched off. 2. WiFI In general, WiFI is known to be insecure. For the highest possible security, WiFI functionality should be switched off. 3. Verification screen is important Do not disregard this stage of your communication procedure. By ignoring the verification screen, you could make your SecureGSM™ call subject to a "Man-in-the-middle" attack. 4. Disable dialing from contacts functionality Using this feature is convenient, however its use allows for the operating system to store rudimentary information in its log files (eg. Time and date of call, contact name, telephone number etc.). For maximum security, this feature should be disabled in SecureGSM™ program settings. 5. Don't leave your device unattended at any time Leaving your device unattended could enable a malicious party to modify your device and compromise security. This not only extends to SecureGSM™, but to other programs and data. Although it would be much easier to attach a bugging device than to modify the SecureGSM™ application, this should not be discounted. 6. Password protect your device Any steps you can take to protect your device are in your favour, and make any modification more difficult. 7. Use the SecureGSM™ Signature Verification Tool regularly To make sure that your SecureGSM™ application has not been modified in any way, please run the Signature Verification Tool (SVT) regularly*. *Not available with SecureGSM™ Evaluation products. 8. Do not pass sensitive information until line is secure Wait until you have completed the Party Verification procedure before passing sensitive information. 9. Use third party utilities to encrypt the file system of your device if security is of paramount importance. A range of third party utilities are available for your Smartphone device to protect your file system. |
