SecureGSM™ SP Messaging Screen

Contents  Previous  Next

The Messaging screen is displayed automatically once a call is established.

Messaging

Navigating within the Messaging screen.

The messaging screen consists of two distinct sections. The upper portion of the screen displays the message history. The message history displays sent and received messages along with their verifications (see below).

The lower portion of the screen is your text entry area and displays your outgoing text as you type, prior to sending.

Use the Navigation Pad to navigate between the two sections of the screen. While in the lower text entry section, pressing (up) will move the cursor up one line at a time until the top line is reached. Continuing to press (up) beyond this point will move the cursor into the upper section and allow you to scroll through the message history, enabling you to review messages which have scrolled off the screen.

To navigate back to the text entry area, press (down) until you have moved beyond the most recent message received, at which point the cursor will move back to the text entry area.

Entering text

To enter text, press the keypad buttons while in the Text Entry area. All of your phone's usual text entry features are available.

Note: Text entry is limited to 99 characters. If you need to send larger messages, just send the message in several parts.

Sending Text

Once you have finished entering your message, press [Send] to send the message. The [Send] button is temporarily disabled until message delivery confirmation is received.

Audible notification on receipt

When a SecureGSM™ message is received, an audible alert sounds in the speaker to notify you of a received message if you cannot see the screen at the time.

All messaging communications in SecureGSM™ applications are verified and displayed in the upper Message history area. They are colour coded as follows.

Sent Message (waiting for delivery confirmation): Gray Text

Sent Message (delivery confirmed and message verified): Black Text

Received Message: Blue, Bold

Undelivered Message: Red, with warning “Message could not be delivered:”

Note: The messaging engine works simultaneously with the voice engine. You are free to conduct a conversation and exchange messages simultaneously at any time (when using a headset for example).
